Barriers of AI chatbot adoption among the elderly: A scoping review
Journal of Human-Computer Interaction · Taylor & Francis · 10.1080/10447318.2026.2674292
The Seed Publications Program is an ongoing, non-profit initiative for undergraduate students, master's students and early-career lecturers and researchers who want to publish but aren't sure where to begin. You bring a topic. We coach you through the review paper, the journal choice, and the reviewers' feedback.
Aim of the project
The aim of this training project is to provide academic support on specific topics with a prospective outcome: a paper. Each stage of the coaching maps to one skill you keep for the rest of your career.
Choose a review method that fits your question and scope it so it can actually be finished.
Build a search strategy, screen what you find, and read at the level a synthesis needs.
Structure the argument, report the method transparently, and write in publishable English.
Match scope, audience and indexing — and read a journal's aims before you commit to it.
Handle the submission system, the cover letter and every file a journal asks for.
Read a decision letter calmly, and answer each comment so the revision is easy to accept.
Program detail
Everything a cohort agrees to before the first draft — the paper, the authorship, the deadlines and who supervises what.
Responsibility: coaching awardees from the beginning through to publication.
Benefit: standing as second-last or last author — optional, and depending on the topic and the supervisor's decision.
The number of positions differs from intake to intake. For K5:
The proposed timeline is a first draft of each manuscript within six months. The starting time is negotiable.

About team
The Seed Publications Program — formerly Academic Writing for Publications, then Seeding Publications Program — is an ongoing, non-profit initiative designed by Dr An Nguyen to give academic support to younger Vietnamese scholars around the globe.
Participants include undergraduate students, master's students and young lecturers and researchers, where "young" is defined by career years rather than age. From K4 onwards, PhD candidates are no longer eligible. What everyone shares is the same starting point: an interest in writing an academic paper, and no clear idea where to begin.
Dr An Nguyen founded the program in March 2024. In late 2024, Dr Dan Tong and Dr Phu Nguyen joined as supervisors and brought their own fields with them, which is how the program came to run parallel tracks in Social Sciences, Business and Economics, and Computer Sciences.
History
Academic Writing for Publication Project
Seeding Publications Program
Seed Publications Program
K1 opens with 9 awardees on 7 topics, writing metasynthesis papers.
K2 opens its first track with 16 awardees in 5 groups, writing scoping reviews.
The second K2 track adds 25 awardees across 8 groups — the largest so far.
K3 runs in Computer Sciences, Business & Economics and Social Sciences at once — 27 awardees.
K5 opens for applications: 2 places in Social Sciences, 1 in Computer Sciences.
Three supervisors, three fields. Each one coaches awardees from the first initial ideas to the published paper.
Founder · Social Sciences
A social health researcher specialising in disability, ageing and health equity among culturally and linguistically diverse communities. Her work combines qualitative and mixed-method approaches to examine structural barriers in health systems and to inform inclusive policy reform.
She has an established international publication record, including first-author articles in journals such as Disability & Society, Sexuality and Disability and Global Public Health. Her emerging research agenda focuses on disability and ageing in multicultural Australia, with particular attention to culturally diverse communities and access to health services.
Member · Business & Economics
An experienced lecturer with a history in higher education, teaching economics subjects at La Trobe University and overseas. Her current research looks at the impact of technological innovation — online platforms, AI — on the future of work, labour migration, gender disparities, food security and pollution.
Two things shape that span. First, a theoretical base in economics: a Master in Development and Resource Economics and a PhD in Economics, with a series of studies in those areas. Second, three recent years working closely with digital business and the economics of innovation, which caused her to look at the same issues through a completely new lens.
Member · Computer Science, Machine Learning
A lecturer in the Department of Civil Engineering at Monash University since 2016, with a PhD from Delft University of Technology on multiscale failure modelling of quasi-brittle materials such as concrete, using advanced discontinuous computational homogenisation.
Before Monash he worked at Johns Hopkins University, Cardiff University and the University of Adelaide. His research covers numerical methods for solving partial differential equations — isogeometric analysis, extended finite element method, material point method — and damage and fracture models, including phase-field and cohesive zone models, for fracture mechanics and large deformation problems.
Alumni of the program who come back to mentor the awardees who follow them.
Mentor · Education, Leadership and Management
An educator and researcher whose work focuses on disability and LGBTQ+ inclusion and inclusive higher education. He has lived with a physical disability since the age of four.
Across his professional roles in higher education, teaching, student support and wellbeing, media, and community engagement, he has developed a diverse portfolio of experience in leadership, education, advocacy, and research. These experiences have strengthened his commitment to disability and LGBTQ+ inclusion, equity and diversity, student wellbeing, and inclusive higher education, and continue to inform both his professional practice and developing research agenda.
Mentor · Education, International Development and Digital Transformation
A development practitioner and emerging researcher with more than 13 years of experience across international development and education, and a Master of Education in Digital Learning from Monash University.
As a DMEAL Officer for an international NGO, he specialises in programme evidence, adaptive learning, accountability and community-based development. His research at Monash examined teacher agency in digital professional development in Vietnam, and his research interests span digital transformation, local agency, participatory evaluation and sustainable development.

IT Support & Web Admin
He holds a Master's degree in Communication and works professionally in marketing. As part of this program, he designed and developed the website and plays a key role in its ongoing administration and IT support.
Social Media Supporter
She is a Master of Marketing with a background in Media and Communication, specialising in Public Relations and Digital Marketing.
As part of the program, she supports social media strategy and content development to increase Seed Publications Program's reach and engagement with young Vietnamese scholars.
